Coloring Crazy

Excerpt From Jane's World

Is there a reason the message of being more mindful and in the moment is being thrown in our faces?

I find it hard not to be mindful ninety percent of the time when I'm shopping for groceries, household products, or even pet food. On every end-cap, in nearly every store, we're inundated with coloring books, all claiming to be therapeutic. The covers scream out: Relaxing! Calming! Stress-busting! They come in all sizes and shapes, and they're all designed to help us be more mindful, in the moment.

We can choose from coloring Japanese woodcut prints to Victorian houses, classic cars to unicorns, grumpy cats to American presidents. For kicks, I Googled Trump coloring books. Sure enough, eighteen different ones popped up on my screen. Again we have a choice: for, against, or undecided. I can assure you I would find none of these coloring books relaxing.

You can color outhouses, Bill Murray, Disney villains, or swear words. I'll admit, coloring swear words has some appeal.
