The Journey of Finding a Journal

Excerpt From Jane's world

Yesterday, upon leaving Barnes and Noble in La Crosse, my crabbiness reached its most childish level. I may have even stomped my foot. I whined about not finding a journal at the one store where journal-finding should be easy. Barnes and Noble stocks over 100 writing journals. I vetoed every one of them.

For years my preferred writing tools were a yellow legal pad with a red pen. At the time I was writing mostly lists and stories. Recently, I've been searching for a journal in which to write my nightly gratitudes. It can't be a yellow legal pad. I want something special.

Keeping a journal that is larger than 5 x 7 next to my bedside won't work--too cumbersome. By the time I'm ready for bed, I don't want to be doing any heavy lifting. On the other hand, a tiny journal that fits in the palm of my hand is ridiculous. I need to be able to use the journal for a whole year. I shouldn't feel the need to limit the amount I write.
